Welcome to the Uckfield Community Fridge
We’re thrilled that you would like to understand how we operate – thank you for stopping by! As a community fridge, we aim to reduce food waste and redistribute surplus food to our community whilst bringing people together.
This is how it works:
1. If you arrive before the Fridge opens, you will be served first by joining a lucky dip for your position in the queue. Good luck!
2. If you arrive after we open, simply take the first available token from the drain pipe.
3. Take a seat, relax, and feel free to strike up a conversation! Our volunteers will call everyone in numerical order.
4. Once your number is called, please add your postcode to our visitors book at the entrance, and feel free to leave us a comment if you’d like.
5. Inside the fridge you will have the opportunity to choose from a selection of surplus food and other donated products, with thanks to our wonderful suppliers and our amazing volunteer team!
A few things to keep in mind:
• Please only take what you will be able to use up. When our stock is limited, our volunteers may need to limit the number of items each visitor takes.
• Our community fridge is all about sharing and caring. We love chatting with our customers and getting to know the community we serve. If you’re in a rush, we may not be the best fit for you today, but we’d love to see you another time!
• Please DO NOT leave with a token. If you miss your number when it is called, you’ll be asked to join the back of the queue.
• Thank you for your patience and understanding. Most importantly, thank you for being a food waste hero!
